Our history

From a single museum app to a SaaS platform for the entire industry.

2019

ByteCode founded

Maciej Frankowski founds ByteCode (sole proprietorship) and starts working on mobile apps in SaaS model for the public and cultural sectors.

2022

First audio guide app

Dedicated audio guide app created for the National Museum in Krakow for the "Szymon Czechowicz" exhibition. First experience with the audio guide format on mobile devices.

2022

AppAudioGuide platform launch

From the idea of repeatable deployments emerges the multi-tenant AppAudioGuide platform with central CMS. The goal: make modern audio guides accessible to smaller museums without building a separate app from scratch.

2023

Wawel Audio Guide

In-house project — dedicated audio guide app for the Royal Castle on Wawel Hill as a demo of branded app capabilities.

2024

MNG Audio Guide — National Museum in Gdansk

First deployment of a branded mobile app under the client's brand. Support for multiple museum departments and temporary exhibitions.

2025

Three new deployments in one year

Silesian Museum in Katowice (flagship branded app), Marie Skłodowska-Curie Museum in Warsaw (PWA deployment), Open-Air Museum in Sidzina. Also a collaboration with the Krzyżowa Foundation on a video guide.

2026

Ecosystem expansion and new legal entity

Launch of ViZoo (AI-enhanced app for zoos). In-house "See It" project — guide to Malta and Gozo (300+ locations). Founding of a limited liability company for new contracts.

Who's behind AppAudioGuide

Maciej Frankowski

Founder and CEO of ByteCode • Computer Science Engineer

16 years of professional IT experience. Previously developed ERP software for the public sector. Mobile apps since 2016, SaaS products since 2019. AppAudioGuide is a project that grew from a single museum deployment in 2022 into a platform serving institutions across Poland.

Holds an engineering degree in computer science. Specializes in mobile app architecture, integration with stationary devices, and digital accessibility (WCAG).
